Breeding : The EPP (Programme Européen de Conservation des Espèces menacées) programm today regroups all the zoos deataming beasdest in captivity and five breeding centres. The Vienna centre is responsible for co-ordinating breeding and is also responsible for the formation of new couples.

Reintroduction : The four reintroduction sites are chosen by the Fondation advisor . Each year the FCBV selects the birds which ase to be re-introduced from the breedingcentres. The birds which are not selected remain in captivity for breeding purposes.
