Bearded Vultures live mostly in pairs in permanent territories above the tree line. These territories are strongly defended against congeners, but with other species, e.g. Golden Eagles, they are nevertheless rather peaceful. Bearded Vultures pairs usually have several nest. Nest are built in sheltered small caves or niches situated in inaccessible cliffs. During autumn the birds can be observed building or enlarging their nest, which consist of branches, grass, wool and hair.
